Direct Access and Referrals

Flexible ways to get started

Get Started Without a Referral

In Missouri, Direct Access allows many patients to begin in-home physical therapy without first obtaining a physician referral. This means you may be able to start treatment sooner, without the added time and inconvenience of scheduling another appointment. If you're not sure whether Direct Access applies to your situation, don't worry. Our team will review your needs, answer your questions, and guide you through the process. If a referral is needed, we'll help you understand the next steps.

Already Have a Referral?

If you already have a referral for physical therapy, getting started is easy. Our team will review your referral, answer any questions, and schedule your in-home evaluation at a time that's convenient for you.

Coverage

Rates and Insurance

Medicare Coverage

Physical Therapy Direct is in-network with Medicare and most Medicare supplement plans. Medicare typically covers 80% of the cost of each visit, and the remaining 20% is often covered partially or fully by your supplemental insurance. If you do not have a supplemental plan or are enrolled in a Medicare replacement plan such as Medicare Advantage, Essence, or Medicare Complete, your out-of-pocket cost is typically around $20 per visit. Any patient responsibility is billed after your claim has been processed by your insurance.

Self-pay Rates and Packages

For patients without Medicare, we offer flexible self-pay options. Although we are out of network with most non-Medicare insurance plans, we can submit claims to your insurance company as a courtesy. See our self-pay rates and package options below to learn more.
